Pattaya —

The AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup is set to take place on Jomtien Beach from March 16th to 29th, with 16 teams from various countries vying for three World Cup slots.

A planning meeting was recently held on March 6th to ensure the success of an upcoming beach soccer tournament in Pattaya. The event will feature 16 competing teams, including Thailand, with the top three finishers earning a spot in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Dubai later this year.

The meeting was chaired by Pattaya Deputy Mayor Kritsana Boonsawat and involved representatives from the police, city departments, and event organizer Abul Faz Kodabandehlu. One of the top priorities discussed during the meeting was ensuring the safety of the athletes and spectators.

To address this concern, the deputy mayor directed the Environment Department to sift through the sand and remove any sharp objects or broken glass that could potentially harm participants or viewers.

The participating countries in the tournament come from diverse backgrounds, including landlocked and beachless nations such as Afghanistan, Bahrain, China, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan. This global representation highlights the growing popularity and inclusivity of beach soccer as a sport.
