Pattaya —
Pattaya City joined hands with MCOT to organize the “Doraemon Run 2024 Thailand by MCOT,” the second stop of the nationwide running event, on Saturday, May 11th. The event was held on Pattaya Beach, drawing over 2,000 runners.
Mr. Poramase Ngampiches, Pattaya Mayor, presided over the opening ceremony on Saturday. Joining him were Mr. Supoj Wongjarasawee, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Ms. Yuri Osawa, First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Thailand, and Mr. Paiboon Siriphanusathian, Independent Director of MCOT PCL.
The Doraemon Run 2024 Thailand by MCOT marks the first time the event has been held in Thailand, with a total of five races scheduled across the country: Bangkok, Pattaya (Chonburi), Nakhon Ratchasima, Phuket, and Chiang Mai. The event celebrates over 42 years of Doraemon’s broadcast in Thailand. Pattaya served as the second stop after Bangkok.
The event featured Doraemon and friends mascots, a 10-meter-tall Doraemon balloon, and a variety of adorable Doraemon character models for fans and runners to take selfies with throughout the event venue.
Mr. Poramase expressed his delight in hosting the event, stating he believed the event would create an everlasting experience for all runners. He also extended his gratitude to MCOT and all involved parties for helping to organize the event.
Pattaya will pass the baton to Nakhon Ratchasima province to host the third leg of the Doraemon Run 2024 Thailand in the near future.
