Pattaya —

Pattaya officials and the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center officially kicked off the 2024 Vegetarian Festival yesterday, October 2nd, with a traditional ceremony at the Naklua Shrine.

At 3:00 PM, Mr. Poramase Ngampiches, Mayor of Pattaya City, joined the ceremony to invite the deities of Heaven and Earth and Bodhisattva to reside at the Naklua Shrine. The event was led by Mr. Wisit Chavalitnititham, Chairman of the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, with a large number of faithful attendees dressed in white, participating in the ceremony.

During the ceremony, Mr. Wisit and Mr. Poramase performed the traditional ritual of raising the Heaven and Earth Lantern to the top of the pole in front of the foundation’s shrine. This marked the official beginning of the Pattaya Vegetarian Festival 2024.

This annual ceremony is believed to bring good fortune and is a significant part of the Vegetarian Festival. Alongside the religious ceremony, numerous vendors offering vegetarian food were present around the shrine to provide people with meat-free offerings.
