The 31st Pattaya Marathon, held in 2024, has once again proven to be a premier event, attracting tens of thousands of runners from 66 countries. Among the participants were elite runners from Kenya, known for their exceptional endurance and speed.

Dr. Penpisut Chintasopon, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Kritsana Bunsawat, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City, and Mr. Nathaphat Sukhitanon, Director of the Activities Promotion Division at the Tourism Authority of Thailand, along with the Pattaya City Executive Committee, officially launched the marathon this past weekend. The event featured two main categories: the full marathon (42.195 km) and the half marathon (21.10 km), starting from Dolphin Circle on North Pattaya Road, in front of Terminal 21 Pattaya shopping center.

Purpose and Impact:

The Amazing Thailand Pattaya Marathon 2024, sponsored by MAMA, was a collaborative effort between Pattaya City, Chonburi Province, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand. The marathon aims to promote sports tourism, positioning Pattaya as a hub for sports and tourism activities in Southeast Asia. This event significantly boosts the local tourism economy, attracting both domestic and international tourists and athletes.

Race Results:

– **Men’s Marathon (42.195 km):** James Cherutich Tallam from Kenya won with a time of 2:25:41.
– **Women’s Marathon (42.195 km):** Caroline Cherono from Kenya finished first with a time of 2:52:53.
– **Men’s Half Marathon (21.10 km):** Emmanuel Kipronoh from Kenya secured victory with a time of 1:06:46.
– **Women’s Half Marathon (21.10 km):** Misa Yimer from Ethiopia won with a time of 1:17:00.
