Nine Thai athletes recently brought home a total of nine medals, including two golds, from the 2024 World Beach Pentathlon Championship in Egypt.
The Modern Pentathlon Association of Thailand (MPAT), led by Admiral Apirawat Sriwattanachai, sent a team of nine national athletes to participate in the UIPM Biathle/Triathle World Championships 2024, held in Port Said, Egypt, from October 8th to 14th, 2024.
Rear Admiral Chanit Saengfuang served as the team manager, accompanied by two coaches. The team departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport on October 8th, 2024.
The athletes competing in the tournament included three male junior athletes, including Navy Cadet Narawit Viera from Chumphon Naval School (2nd year), Navy Cadet Wichapol Luekchun from Chumphon Naval School (1st year), and Mr. Klaochanok Boonsoongpetch from Boonwat Witthayakhan School in Lampang.
Three female junior athletes participated as well, including Ms. Aisika Kaewyongkot from Suranaree Witthaya School in Nakhon Ratchasima, Ms. Khemjira Chue-in from Chonkalayanukool School in Chonburi, and Ms. Phunida Srijaroen from Assumption College Sri Racha in Chonburi.
The U11 female category included three athletes from Pornchaiwittaya School in Kalasin: Orawan Boonasa (5th grade), Sirikamon Natthaporn (4th grade), and Boonnisa Thawilthung (4th grade).
The Thai national team participated in the Biathle (running, swimming, and running) and Triathle (running, shooting, and swimming) competitions, competing in individual, team, and mixed categories (junior).
The athletes achieved a total of nine medals, including 2 gold medals in the Triathle junior category for women’s team (ages 19-21) and in the Biathle junior category for women’s team (ages 19-21).
They also earned 2 silver medals in the Biathle junior category for individual women and in the Triathle junior category for the men’s team (ages 19-21).
Additionally, they won 5 more bronze medals.
