Happy Mother’s Day and Happy Birthday to The Queen Mother from Pattaya Unplugged

National –

Born on August 12, 1932, Mom Rajawongse (MR) Sirikit Kitiyakara was the eldest daughter of Prince Nakhatra Mongkol Kitiyakara and Mom Luang Bua Snidwongse. This year marks her 90th birthday.

To celebrate Mother’s Day in Thailand, Thai people will wear blue, The Queen Mother’s color. Public places and government offices will decorate their places with national flags, The Queen Mother’s personal flag, and the portrait of The Queen Mother.

Organized by government officials, an alms-giving ceremony will be held in the morning followed by a candle-lighting ceremony and fireworks displays nationwide.

Among families, children would traditionally offer their mothers jasmine flowers which symbolize motherhood and unconditional love. Most schools will host a Mother’s Day ceremony for their students to pay respect and thank their beloved mothers.

Mother’s Day is also a time of family reunion as many Thai families will gather and take their mothers for dinner as well as to catch up and enjoy their time together.

Long live the Queen Mother and Happy Mother’s Day from the staff of Pattaya Unplugged.
