The Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunplome told the Pattaya News, “These events are aimed to boost Pattaya tourism and the economy after the Covid-19 outbreak. We are trying to get the old feeling of Pattaya back as soon as we can.”

TPN media notes, however, that alcohol at restaurants and the entire former vibrant nightlife and bar scene remains shuttered by national orders due to “Covid-19 concerns”. The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA, stated yesterday, November 12th, 2021, that they will not allow this sector to open nationally until at least mid-January of 2022. Pattaya tourism and business associations have formally requested an exemption from this rule for Pattaya from the CCSA and Tourism Authority as of this weekend, it is unknown if this will be approved or go anywhere.
